Neil Dickens

neildickens Neil Dickens is finalising his Doctoral research thesis in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London.  He has worked extensively in private practice, the NHS as well as in education, supporting Doctoral psychology students in their personal and professional development.

He works with individuals, couples and families and across all age ranges, therapeutically taking principally both a systemic and cognitive behavioural approach.  His specialist background includes working with addictive presentations, attachment phenomena, dependency and familial abuse, reflected in his research interests.

Neil’s further clinical experience encompasses working with anxiety, depression, OCD presentations, bereavement, life adjustment, family relationships, sexuality, personality disorders, career challenges and adolescent conflict. He also works both short and long term.

He has worked in charitable organisations, most notably those supporting victims of domestic violence. Within the NHS, he has worked in specialist drug and alcohol clinics as well as in a GP setting.

Neil previously worked for twenty years in corporate communications and enjoyed a flourishing career in both London and Los Angeles where he ran his own company.

For several years Neil also produced for and presented on a Los Angeles based psychology radio show. He is a member of the BPS, SAG-AFTRA and Equity.
