Dr Fran Smith
She has worked with individuals (adults, older adults, adolescents and children), couples, and families and has facilitated group work. In the NHS Fran has worked in GP practices, Community Mental Health teams, Mental Health Resource Centres as well as in a specific health related setting in a major London Hospital. She also has experience of working within the charity sector, for organisations such as ‘Re-Think’ and ‘Samaritans’, and in a specialist school. Fran is trained and BPS accredited in levels A and B Psychometric testing. This enables her to conduct both personality assessment and aptitude testing which can be helpful when considering career development and staff selection. Fran works therapeutically using a variety of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural, Systemic, Narrative, Psychodynamic and Humanistic. She is an advocate of dynamic, time limited therapy that is focussed collaboratively and specifically on the needs of the client(s). In addition to her work with a range of clients presenting with a broad variety of presenting problems her research interest currently draws from her experience in a Plastic Surgery Department of a major London hospital. Fran has and continues to engage in a number of research studies relating to appearance, obesity, plastic surgery and adjustment to change in appearance. |

Fran Smith is a Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society. Since graduating with a BSc in Psychology (1st class) Fran has gained experience in a variety of clinical and research settings.
